Mid Century Renovation: Featured in Australian House & Gardens

We are thrilled to share that our Black Rock project in Melbourne – a mid century renovation of a brick-veneer home – has been featured in the January issue of Australian House & Gardens magazine.

Sensitive Modernist Renovation

This project demonstrates how contemporary additions can be integrated seamlessly with original architecture, enhancing both functionality and modernist style. The renovation was carefully designed to respect the home’s existing character while introducing new spaces that cater to today’s lifestyle needs.

The project began with a Master Plan and feasibility study, allowing the existing mid-century brick-veneer home to be carefully assessed before design work commenced. This early stage tested opportunities and constraints, informed the scope of works, and established a clear framework for integrating contemporary additions while respecting the home’s modernist origins.

Collaboration with Leading Experts

Throughout the process, we worked closely with James McBride & Associates, whose technical expertise ensured flawless execution of the design. In parallel, Rhiannon Orr, curated the loose furniture, objects, and artwork, creating interiors that complement and enrich the home’s modernist aesthetic.
