ABC Radio National ‘By Design’ – Designing for Children
August 2013
The Panel – Designing for Children
Yesterday, I had the pleasure of appearing on ABC Radio National’s By Design with presenter Fenella Kernebone. Our discussion explored Designing for Children. It highlighted how thoughtful design can create environments that are both functional and inspiring for young people.

I was joined by stylist Megan Morton and educator Annette Mauer. Together we shared insights on creating spaces that balance creativity, safety, and practicality. From interior layouts to materials, lighting, and play areas, we explored how design can actively support children’s growth, learning, and well-being.
You can listen to the full show here and hear our discussion on designing homes, schools, and community spaces that truly respond to children’s needs.
