The Beautiful Gum Department Store In Moscow

This is a great video which shows the beautiful Gum Department Store on Red Square, Moscow, Russia. I had the pleasure of working on the Burberry store, located in this wonderful building, when I was working in London. The first time I visited Red Square was during the Russian “perestroika” and “glasnost” in 1989.

The first Russian McDonalds had just opened in Moscow with its massive queue. The streets were void of capitalism with the absence of signage and commercialism. It was on my first overseas trip and I was totally blown away. At that point in time I would never had imagined that one day I would be the project leader on a retail fit-out located in that very building.
