Victorian Architecture Awards 2012
July 2012
I attended the 2012 Victorian Architecture Awards presentation dinner on Friday night at Crown Palladium in Melbourne. I was very excited that one of my favourite Melbourne buildings – The iconic National Gallery of Victoria designed by Sir Roy Grounds – won the this year’s Enduring Architecture Award. It is an amazing building. I love its monumental monolithic form and use of the vernacular bluestone. It is a beautiful example of modernism that has historical and vernacular references.
