Port Fairy – An Artist’s Retreat
This Port Fairy project is an artist’s retreat is located in a beautiful historic coastal town, for an amazing couple who had made a sea change from outback Broken Hill. Both clients have a love of painting and wanted a dedicated place that they could carry out their passion, which was separate from their house, and provided additional accommodation for their many guests. The clients’ desire was for their own piece of modernist architecture, which is evident in the clean modernist lines and expansive use of glass. They also wanted a strong connection to the garden and the outdoors, with operable full height glazed doors and timber decking. The used of timber cladding and decking was drawn upon the clients’ love of nature and the outdoors, with their particular request for the use iron bark timber.
This Port Fairy project required town planning due to a heritage overlay, and is currently in the construction documentation stage, and is due to go to site soon.
I have a strong connection to Port Fairy, having grown up on a farm in the Western District, and I am interested in being engaged for additional projects in the area.
